ADA Compliance

Our Committment to Student Accessibility

Highlighter is committed to providing a rich and dynamic learning experience to all students including those with disabilities.

The Highlighter website and Reader are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This means that our website and software has been designed to be accessible by students of all abilities.

Becoming ADA-Compliant

Becoming compliant is a standardized process that involves preparing a website or software application to be accessed by individuals who are deaf or blind. Compliance was achieved by the following actions:

  • We added “alt” tag descriptions to all images.
  • We placed descriptive “title” tags with all relevant spans, such submit buttons.
  • We added added ‘longdesc” tags to describe other relevant objects, such as iframes.
  • We formatted our HTML code so that it is structured properly and readable without a stylesheet.
  • In addition to video and audio tutorials, we also provide accompanying written documentation.

The purpose of these actions s to make our site compatible with screen readers, which will read the text aloud to people who are blind.

Voluntary Product Accessibility Template

The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template or VPAT is a tool used to document a product's conformance with the accessibility standards under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The purpose of the VPAT is to assist Federal contracting officials and other buyers in making products and services with features that support accessibility.

If you have questions or comments about accessibility, please get in touch with us directly.
